🇺🇸 The U.S. State Department, in a July 3 press statement by spokesperson Tammy Bruce, announced new sanctions against seven senior officials and one entity affiliated with Al-Qard Al-Hassan (AQAH) — a Lebanon-based financial institution controlled by Hizballah. The move targets the group’s ability to evade international sanctions by funneling millions through illicit “shadow” accounts.
The sanctions were enacted under Executive Order 13224, which enables the U.S. government to block assets and financial access for individuals and entities supporting terrorism. AQAH has long been used as a front for Hizballah’s financial operations.
In tandem, the Rewards for Justice (RFJ) program is offering up to $10 million for credible information that leads to the disruption of Hizballah’s financial networks. Informants may contact RFJ via Signal, Telegram, or WhatsApp at +1-202-702-7843, with eligibility for both reward and relocation.
The U.S. reiterated that the action is not a stance against Lebanon but a measure to weaken Hizballah’s destabilizing role in the region. This comes as part of a wider effort to enforce counter-terrorism and financial integrity across the Middle East.
